Thanks all, stall holders and market visitors alike for the great support given to The Big Curry charity at the April farmers market.
We raised nearly £165, and as there a different events taking place over the Country all the time the farmers market is part of a much bigger project.  Of course, it’s never really enough. If you would like to contribute more, or just find out more about The Big Curry, the website is here.

We will be supporting them again next year

Yes. This Sunday. Not the last one of the month. Lets hope for sunny weather.

The Malling Awareness Day will be running alongside this Farmers Market. Its hoped that up to 20 community stands run by local clubs and societies will be attendingto showcase their local activites.

There’s a large variety attending which includes embroidery, art, photography, bell ringers, ramblers, Malling Society, drama, schools and many more.

This month our charity stall is the Demelza Trust, which is a children’s Hospice in Kent.

The Big Curry

West Malling Farmers Market is spicing up the April market in aid of Britain’s soldiers.

The Big Curry is organised by the Army Benevolent Fund, The Soldiers Charity.

This will be the second year the market has supported the Big Curry. Last year we raised over £240 and with the public’s support we would like to beat that total this year.

At this month’s market, a number of the producers will be making and selling curry related foods. For those not so keen on the nation’s favourite food, there will be donation boxes on some of the stalls.

Desi Box Catering will be making a special desi special pepper bhaaji and will make a donation for every one sold.

Jo’s Cakes will be selling a wonderful curry soup to drink on the market and making a donation for each cup sold.

Love Chillies, who are famous for their spicy pickled onions, have made a limited edition curried pickled onion. For every jar purchased £1.00 will go to The Big Curry.

Low Wood Nursery will be selling curry plants and will be making a donation for each plant sold.

The Posh Pie Company will be making Beef Madras with Pickled Lime Pie and donating £1.00 per pie sold. If you haven’t tried these award wining pies this month is a good month to try one.

Roundwood Orchard Pig Farm will be making curried sausages from their own pigs. A £1.00 donation will be made for each packet purchased.

VJ Game will be making a Curried Sausage with wild boar and venison. They will be donating 10% of the sales of these.

Steve Wood the market manager said “I was very happy with the amount we raised last year but would like to do better this year. With so many soldiers being wounded at the moment it’s nice to be able to give a little something back, it’s not too much of a sacrifice having to eat more curry, so please come along and help us help them”.
