Please help your local Farmers Market.
A large number of customers who attend do so because they see road side signs. Over 50% at some markets. Circuses and Charity events can put up signs without permission, farmers markets can’t.
There is a petition organised to get this changed, please do your bit to help. If the law is changed it will help farmers markets to promote themselves.

To do your bit to help go to http://yourfreedom.hmg.gov.uk You will need to register (it took me under a minute), then search for farmers markets, add a rating and there’s not need to leave a comment. Or go to the link below to go straight to the petition. http://yourfreedom.hmg.gov.uk/cutting-business-and-third-sector-regulations/allowing-temporary-signs-for-promoting-farmers-markets/idea-view

TV chef Richard Phillips cooks a summer sizzle at Kent’s Farmers’ Markets!!!
The award-winning star of TV’s Daily Cooks’ Challenge, Too Many Cooks, Ready Steady Cook and Step Up to the Plate, chef Richard Phillips, executive chef and co-owner of three of Kent’s leading fine dining venues – including Thackeray’s, Hengist and Richard Phillips @ Chapel Down – is heralding the start of summer with a live appearance at West Malling Farmers’ Market, the first in a planned series of cookery demonstrations.
Richard Phillips’s first appearance at West Malling Farmers’ Market on Sunday 27 June will be with Daniel Hatton, head chef at the Hengist. Richard and Daniel will do two cookery demonstrations in the morning starting at around 10am and 12noon.
The creative cookery duo will produce two three course meals using many ingredients that are available from West Malling Farmers’ Market. Richard will be sharing his professional tips of the trade to bring out the best flavours in a dish and visitors will be able to enjoy free tastings and pick up a copy of the recipes to try at home.
A great champion of Kentish produce, and member of the flagship organisation Produced in Kent that champions local producers and restaurateurs, Richard’s star appearance at West Malling Farmers’ Market will certainly add some summer sizzle to one of Kent’s most popular and successful farmers’ markets.
“Richard’s support will be a wonderful attraction to shoppers, giving them exciting and delicious fresh ideas on making the best of Kent’s finest food here on sale at West Malling,” said Steve Woods, manager of West Malling Farmers’ Market. “Richard is a chef with star quality and we feel really excited and honoured to have him appear at the market”

West Malling Farmers Market is on the 4th Sunday of the month, not the last Sunday….

If you missed it the good news is that there will be another, probably greater and funkier one, next month on June 27th.
