Hopefully this month asparagus should be available at the farmers market, however the season will be shorter than normal so don’t miss out. Other vegetables to look out for are crisp radishes, spring onions, early cucumbers and salad leaves. Over the coming weeks we’ll start to see Strawberries appear at the farmers markets.
The Farmers Market it taking part in the Love Your Local Market Fortnight and several producers have recently launched new products and new lines. Take a bit of time to browse the stalls to see what new items are available

The next farmers market in West Malling will take place on Sunday 28 April. The farmers market is open between 9.30am and 1.30pm and takes place in West Malling High Street, which is closed to traffic from 6.30am between Water Lane and Swan Street. The road re-opens for 3pm once the Farmers Market has finished and producers have packed their stalls away.
Signs of new life are just starting to emerge after a hard winter for farmers and producers, who now need our support more than ever. Remember if we don’t support them, we, (and the wonderful countryside that they take care of, that sustains us and provides so much) will be the losers. So this April with a rather restricted choice of fresh seasonal produce, why not make this the time to try some of the wonderful array of prepared and preserved products that add so much to our enjoyment of market visits?

Good luck to both Meopham Valley Vineyard and Pine Trees Farm who have both been successful in reaching the top 3 in their related Produced in Kent category. The winners of the categories will be announced early March.

Every time we get a food scare, people look at where their food is coming from and Farmers Markets have that local traceability.. You can come to the Farmers Market and speak directly to the people involved in producing the item
This month Hepworth Beer, Sweet Nostalgia and Low Wood Nursery should be back at the Farmers Market. Tiger Spring Tea is hoping to attend this month too. All of Tiger Spring Teas are selected and tasted by Nigel, from Tiger Spring Tea. The tea is weighed and hand packed for freshness into re-sealable stand up pouches.
The next Farmers Market in West Malling will take place on 27th January 2013. Some producers may be affected by the current weather situation. Please support those stalls that make the effort to get to the farmers market. If your favourite stall is missing, they will no doubt be back next month and need your support then too.
